“The Leadership Journey for Young Leaders” was a keynote address by Gwen Webber-McLeod to launch the American Heart Association Syracuse “STEM Has Heart” initiative.
This initiative is designed to empower high school students to embrace careers in STEM.
In addition to this keynote, students were given access to an online series of presentations on specific STEM careers.
Gwen is a committed supporter of The American Heart Association and Go Red for Women Syracuse. She is particularly interested in initiatives focused on increasing heart health in communities of color.
She is honored to extend her support by participating in the STEM Has Heart initiative and hopes participating students are inspired to become leaders in STEM.
Representation in STEM fields matters. And as cardiovascular disease continues to be our No. 1 killer, ensuring diversity is at the forefront of developing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) solutions has never been more imperative. This STEM Has Heart program, sponsored by National Grid, works to help close gender gaps and increase diversity in these fields.
You can download the video digital catalog and view more from the STEM Has Heart program. The catalog incorporates speakers that would have presented in person, as well as some mission related videos on the importance of learning hands only CPR, brain breaks and much more!
