Gwen Webber-McLeod was the Co-Chair of the Syracuse Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s (SAC DST) 50th Anniversary Celebration. She proudly Co-Chaired these events with Soror Janice Brown.
The sorority, founded in 1972, is dedicated to scholarship, sisterhood and service. SAC DST has proudly lived up to the mission of our beloved sorority for the past 50 years. The sorority manifest its mission locally by engaging in public service activities in alignment with its national 5-point programmatic thrusts:
– Economic Development
– Educational Development
– International Awareness
– Physical and Mental Health
– Political Awareness and Involvement.
SAC DST’s 50th Anniversary Celebration kicked off the weekend of March 17-20. The weekend included a series of events for sorority members that included the 50 Years of Sisterhood Scholarship and Service Gala. 200 guests attended to celebrate SAC DST’s 50 years of service to the community.
State and local elected officials joined community leaders to present the sorority with Proclamations and accolades. See the digital ad book, created by Captured by Sydni for an overview of companies, organizations and individuals who sponsored the 50th Anniversary celebration.
SAC DST designed and implemented a public service project in partnership with National Grid. The project focuses on increasing awareness about careers in the new energy industry and STEM among emerging Black women leaders ages 18-24.
